*Shopian, Kashmir* April 18, – A fierce hailstorm battered *Shadab Karewa, Kanipora, Zawoora, Manloo, Narapora, Pargochu*, main town etc, areas of District Shopian today on April 18, 2025, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The unexpected icy assault damaged orchards, uprooted trees, and sent residents scrambling for cover as marble-sized hailstones pounded rooftops and fields.

Farmers, already grappling with unpredictable weather, watched in horror as their apple blossoms—the lifeline of Kashmir’s economy—were shredded by the relentless hail. “In just 15 minutes, months of hard work were destroyed,” lamented Ghulam Rasool, a distraught orchard owner from Narpur.

Local authorities have launched damage assessment teams, while residents demand immediate relief. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for more unstable weather, urging caution.
