Kupwara ,Jun 18 : A police party from Police station Trehgam established a surprise checkpoint (naka) near shumnag as part of routine surveillance and area domination measures. During the course of checking, one individual approaching from the Kralpora towards Shumnag was observed behaving suspiciously. Upon noticing the naka party, the individual attempted to flee the spot; however, he was promptly and tactfully apprehended by the alert personnel.
On preliminary questioning, the individual identified himself as Faisal Ahmad Parray, S/O Wali Mohammad Parray, R/O Trehgam, Kupwara. A personal search was conducted in the presence of witnesses, leading to the recovery of a substantial amount of charas-like substance from his possession.
In this regard, FIR No. 24/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Trehgam , and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and network behind the illegal substance.
The Kupwara Police remains committed under the leadership of SSP Kupwara with an aim to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
