Kulgam, October 19:
Continuing its unwavering efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from society, Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
A police party led by IC PP Mirbazar, during a naka checking at Furrah Bypass, Mirbazar, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Nadeem Manzoor Naikoo, son of Manzoor Ahmad Naikoo, resident of Pati Akhran, Nowpora, who was carrying a bag. Upon search, 2.050 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the said bag. The accused was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 218/2025 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigation has been initiated to trace the source and the wider network involved in the trade.
Kulgam Police reiterated their firm commitment to combat drug trafficking and sought public cooperation in eradicating this social evil. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to help build a drug-free and safer society.
