“We Will Fully Comply with SC’s 50% Reservation Cap, Nothing to Hide”: CM Omar Abdullah

Jammu, Nov 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday clarified his government’s stance on the reservation issue, reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir will strictly adhere to the Supreme Court’s 50% reservation cap, emphasizing transparency and commitment to constitutional norms.
Speaking to reporters after assuming office at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, Omar as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, “What’s there to hide? If we had wanted to conceal it, we wouldn’t have mentioned it in our manifesto. The entire discussion on this issue began only after the National Conference included it in the manifesto. Those who are now projecting themselves as champions of open merit — where were they before that?”
CM Omar further said that the cabinet subcommittee has already submitted its report. “It is our full intention to comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling that reservations should not exceed 50%. If there was anything to hide, we would not have brought it into the public domain,” Omar stated.
