Budgam, Nov 30,
Budgam Police on Sunday attached two residential properties worth around Rs 45 lakh in the Charar-i-Sharif area as part of a sustained crackdown against alleged narcotics trafficking.

Officials said the action followed investigations into two separate NDPS cases registered at Police Station Charar-i-Sharif. A double-storey house located at Bonhard Charwani village was attached in connection with FIR No. 100/2024, in which the accused Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Abdullah Ganie, is facing charges under Sections 8 and 15 to 20 of the NDPS Act.

In a parallel move, police also attached another double-storey house at Nowhar Sarfkhud village belonging to Mehraj Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, who is an accused in FIR No. 08/2021 registered under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.

According to police, investigations established that the properties were allegedly acquired using money generated from unlawful narcotics trade. After due legal process and on the basis of material evidence, the properties were taken into possession under provisions of Section 68 F of the NDPS Act.

Police officials said the attachment of assets was aimed at dismantling the financial backbone of drug networks operating in the district.

They said such operations will continue against individuals involved in the narcotics trade to ensure that illegal earnings are traced and seized under law.
