Ganderbal, Dec 23: In a continued drive against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Ganderbal Police achieved a significant success by apprehending 02 Drug Peddlers and Seized Heroin-Like Substance from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheerbhawani.
As per the statement issued, On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, during routine Naka checking at Central University, Tullamulla Road, police party of PS Kheerbawani intercepted a Maruti-800 vehicle bearing Registration No. JK01U-3866. Upon thorough checking, 02 persons namely; Showkat Ahmad Bhat, Son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, and Sameer Ahmad Bhat (MBA Student), Son of Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat, both residents of Batwina, Ganderbal were apprehended.
During the search, Contraband Heroin like Substance was recovered from their possession, which was subsequently seized as per legal procedures.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 41/2025, under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kheerbhawani, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband.
Ganderbal Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.
