DIG RP Range Conducts Intelligence, Security & Crime Review Meeting in Poonch

DIG Rajouri–Poonch (RP) Range, Sh. Tajinder Singh, IPS, today chaired a comprehensive Intelligence, Security and Crime Review Meeting at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office (DPO), Poonch.

At the outset, SSP Poonch, Sh. Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, briefed the DIG RP Range on the prevailing security and intelligence scenario of the district. Detailed discussions were also held regarding the crime profile, disposal of cases, and ongoing investigation efforts across the district.

During the review, extensive deliberations were held on rejuvenating the intelligence grid through effective implementation of basic policing at Police Stations and Police Posts. Emphasis was laid on strengthening grassroots-level intelligence generation to ensure timely inputs and proactive policing.

The DIG RP Range issued clear instructions for effective implementation of the Beat System, with a prime focus on identification and sustained surveillance of the terror ecosystem, narco-support structures, absconders, and other persons of tainted repute. Officers were directed to ensure regular beat checks, community interaction, and documentation of intelligence inputs at the unit level.

Officers present in the meeting provided a detailed account of their field intelligence networks, existing security arrangements, and the initiatives being undertaken at the level of Police Stations, Police Posts, and SOG Camps to maintain peace and thwart anti-national and criminal activities.

While reviewing efforts against narco-smuggling and terror networks, the DIG RP Range urged officers to further augment operations through innovative intelligence collection and analysis techniques, in addition to strengthening human intelligence (HUMINT) networks.

The crime position of the district was reviewed in detail. It was impressed upon all officers to ensure strict adherence to prescribed investigation timelines. The DIG emphasized the use of scientific and technology-driven investigation tools, effective deployment of Forensic Mobile Units, and creation of Scene of Crime (SOC) documentation/SIDs, so as to ensure fair, transparent, and professional investigations.

The meeting was attended by SSP Poonch, Sh. Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, all Gazetted Officers, and territorial SHOs of Police Stations of District Poonch. The review concluded with directions to maintain high standards of alertness, professionalism, and public-centric policing to sustain peace and security in the district.
