Kupwara, Jan 11, A fire broke out at the Main Bypass area of Kupwara on Sunday morning, damaging a portion of a three-storey residential house before being brought under control by Fire and Emergency Services personnel, officials said.
According to officials, the fire tenders from Kupwara headquarters rushed to the spot after receiving the information.
Officials said timely intervention and coordinated efforts by the firefighting teams helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential structures, averting a major incident in the densely populated locality.
Cooling operations were underway to rule out any possibility of re-ignition, while no injuries were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Officials said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. [KNT]
