Anantnag Police achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing drive against drug menace by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance.
On receiving specific information, a police party of PS Uttrasoo intercepted two individuals at Chattergul and apprehended them. The accused have been identified as Mehboob Gojjer S/O Mum Shakoor Gojjer and Rafiq Ahmad Gojjer S/O Bashir Ahmad Gojjer, both residents of Chontihal, Utresoo.
During search, Charas-like substance weighing approximately 1.150 kilograms was recovered from their possession. The contraband was seized on the spot as per legal procedure.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 04/2026 under sections 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Utresoo, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain forward and backward linkages.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to eradicate drug abuse from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.
