*Woman Declared Brought Dead at SKIMS, Murder Angle Being Investigated*

Srinagar, Jan 22, A 65-year-old woman, identified as Rashida Lateef of Nowshera, was brought dead to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Thursday, triggering a police investigation into what authorities have described as a suspected case of murder.
Hospital officials confirmed to the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the woman was brought to the emergency department of SKIMS Soura, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Following preliminary assessment and documentation, the hospital administration informed the police, citing suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
“The case is being treated as a suspected murder and the matter has been reported to the concerned police authorities for further investigation,” the SKIMS administration confirmed.
Soon after receiving information, police reached the hospital and initiated legal formalities. Sources said a detailed investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to it. Statements of family members and others connected with the case are being recorded, while further medical and forensic procedures are expected to follow as part of the probe.
Officials said the body will be subjected to medico-legal examination as per procedure to determine whether there were any signs of foul play. The police have not ruled out any possibility at this stage and said the investigation will proceed on all relevant angles.
