*No plan yet to create constituency-wise medical blocks in Srinagar: Health Minister*

Srinagar, Feb 03 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that Srinagar district continues to function with just one medical block and four medical zones, and there no proposal to create constituency-wise medical blocks.

Replying to a question by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad, Health Minister, Sakina Itoo, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the four medical zones in Srinagar are functioning directly under the administrative control of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Srinagar.

She said that despite the limited number of medical blocks, the implementation of health programmes and delivery of services is being carried out smoothly with the existing manpower and infrastructure.

She said that the existing four medical zones and one medical block together cater to all eight assembly constituencies and there is no such proposal consideration to expand the number of medical blocks.

She, however, said that the government has left the door open for future expansion, saying any decision regarding the creation of additional medical blocks would depend on requirement, feasibility, and the availability of manpower and infrastructure—
