*2 terrorists killed in Udhampur encounter, area under surveillance: Army*

Udhampur, Feb 04 : Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing encounter with joint security forces in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said.
The gunfight, per news agency—, began on Tuesday after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot soon after contact was established. Officials said the terrorists were holed up inside a cave, where they were later eliminated.
“Two terrorists have been neutralised in the encounter, and the search operation is still underway,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the White Knight Corps, in a post on X, said that based on specific intelligence information provided by Jammu and Kashmir police, troops of CIF Delta and White Knight Corps launched a focused counter-terror operation in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh, in coordination with JKP and CRPF, who reinforced the cordon to prevent any escape.
“Contact with the terrorists was established on Tuesday, and they were continuously engaged to stop them from breaking the cordon. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised,” it said, adding that the operation demonstrated seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and high levels of professionalism.
