*Head Constable Arrested by CBI in Bribery Case; SHO Gharota Shifted*

Jammu, Feb 20 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Head Constable posted at Police Station Gharota for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Sources told that the accused, identified as Ashok Kumar, was apprehended during a trap operation laid by the CBI following a complaint that he had demanded money in connection with a police case.

According to officials, a counter FIR had been registered in a dispute and the Head Constable was acting as the Investigating Officer. He had allegedly sought a bribe to remove the complainant’s name from the case. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

A formal case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.

Following the development, SSP Jammu ordered the immediate transfer of SHO Gharota, Inspector Sandeep Katoch. Inspector Rajesh Verma has been appointed as the new Station House Officer of the police station.
