Anantnag Police Cracks Down on Illegal Poppy Cultivation; Two FIRs registered

Anantnag Police on Saturday launched a major crackdown against illegal narcotics cultivation in Pahalgam and Mattan areas, destroying poppy crops at two separate locations and registering cases under the NDPS Act.
In Pahalgam, police raided Branpath and found illegal poppy cultivation spread over nearly 17 marlas of land. The crop was destroyed on the spot and an FIR was registered.
In another action in Mattan, police detected illegal poppy cultivation inside an orchard at Gopalpora Khurd. The poppy plants were destroyed and a separate case was registered under the NDPS Act.
Police said investigations are underway and reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating illegal narcotics cultivation and drug-related activities in the district.
