_Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals_ *J&K police seizes 05 vehicles in Shopian; 02 FIRs registered*
*May 18:* “`Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, J&K Police in Shopian seized two JCB, two tractors and one tipper involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Zaniapora and Imamsahib areas of the district.
During routine patrolling, a police team from Police Station Zainapora intercepted and seized one JCB and one Tipper at involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 76/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been set into motion.
In a similar action, police party from Police Station Imamsahib intercepted one JCB and two tractors engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard FIR No. 35/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Imamsahib and investigation has been initiated.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.“`
