*Anantnag Police Attaches Property Worth ₹25 Lakh Acquired Through Drug Trafficking Under NDPS Act*

Anantnag, 16 July 2026: Continuing its relentless drive against drug trafficking and acting firmly against assets generated through the narcotics trade, Anantnag Police has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹25 lakh belonging to drug peddler in Bijbehara.

The attached property comprises a single-storey residential house belonging to Aurangzeb Bhat @ Javaid Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Arwani, Bijbehara. The property was established during investigation to have been acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.

The accused is a habitual offender with previous involvement in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 64/2013 under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act and FIR No. 75/2025 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act, both registered at Police Station Bijbehara.

Considering his repeated involvement in narcotics-related offences, he was also detained under the PIT NDPS Act and is presently lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

Anantnag Police appeals to the public to continue supporting the fight against drugs by sharing any information related to narcotics trafficking with the nearest police station. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential.
