Budgam, July 20 : A leopard that had been roaming Ompora and adjoining areas of Budgam town was captured alive by the Wildlife Department at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) premises on Monday, bringing relief to local residents.
An official told the news agencyโKashmir News Observer (KNO) that the wild animal had triggered panic in the area over the past several days, with multiple sightings reported from Ompora and nearby localities.
He said the Wildlife Department had installed traps at several vulnerable locations to capture the leopard and one of the traps set up at the NIFT premises successfully caught the animal alive.
โThe leopard will be relocated to its natural habitat in accordance with wildlife protocols,โ he added.โ(KNO)
