Newly married man swept away in floodwaters found dead in Budgam

Budgam, July 22: The body of a newly married man, who was swept away by a swollen stream amid the ongoing flood situation in Budgam district, was recovered on Wednesday morning after an intensive overnight search operation.
The deceased has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Paswal, a resident of Drang, Khag. He was reportedly washed away after water levels in a local nallah rose suddenly due to incessant rainfall and flash floods.
The body was recovered from Ashrea Nallah in Khag through a joint operation involving the civil administration, police, rescue teams, volunteers and local residents. Authorities have urged people to stay away from rivers, streams and other flood-prone areas as heavy rainfall continues to impact several parts of the district.
