*’Spell of Rain to Continue Across J&K Till August 15; Heavy Showers, Flash Flood Risk from August 9-11′: MeT*

*Forecasts widespread rainfall; advises caution in vulnerable areas due to risk of flash floods and landslides*

Srinagar, Aug 6 The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast continued spells of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir till August 15, with the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash floods in vulnerable areas between August 9 and 11.

According to the forecast, as per news agency JKNS, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places from August 6 to 8, with brief intense showers at a few locations.

From August 9 to 11, the weather is likely to remain active, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected at most places.

The MeT Department has warned of heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers in a few districts during this period.

For August 12 to 15, light rain or thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense showers possible at isolated locations.

The MeT Centre has issued an advisory warning that torrential rain or intense showers between August 9 and 11 may trigger flash floods, landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable locations.

People, particularly those living in landslide-prone areas or near rivers and streams, have been advised to remain alert and follow official advisories. (JKNS)
