POWERGRID Celebrates 80th Independence Day with gaiety and enthusiasm throughout its establishments across Northern Region-II. Executive Director (NR-II),hoists Tricolour at Siachen base camp

POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System–II celebrated 80th Independence Day with patriotism & enthusiasm. at all the establishments across the Region.
In a major push to strengthen strategic infrastructure at the world’s highest battlefield, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is constructing a dedicated Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) station for the Indian Army at Siachen Base Camp. During August 15th ‘s site visit to inspect ongoing progress, POWERGRID’s Executive Director ,Northern Regional-II ,Sh.Tarun Bajaj hoisted the National Tricolour and commended the resilience of the workforce operating in extreme high-altitude conditions. Motivating the on-ground teams to view the project as a vital service in the national interest, Sh.Tarun Bajaj urged all personnel to expedite execution and ensure the critical power installations are successfully completed within the scheduled time frame. The function was also graced by the Commanding officer of Indian Army at Siachen base camp alongwith all employees of POWERGRID executing the task of electrification in remote areas of Ladhak .
At the Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu, the chief guest Shri Shafat Ahmed Wani, Chief General Manager(AM) and Shri Sanjeev Kumar Chowan , Chief General Manager (Projects), POWERGRID, jointly unfurled the national flag in presence of all senior officials, employees and their families members. On this occasion both the dignitaries, in their brief addresses congratulated the employees and their families on this pious day. Both urged the employees to continue to serve the organization with dedication and sincerity for the overall development of our nation.
A colourful program which had Fancy dress competition, patriotic songs and dance performances by members of Mahila Samiti and children of the employees was appreciated by one and all present on this occasion. Later Prizes were distributed Prizes to the winners of various competitions organized in connection with Independence day. A community lunch was also organized on this occasion.
The reports of celebrating the Independence Day at all site offices in the Region comprising Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, UT of J&K, Ladakh & Chandigarh are being received.
