Director Agriculture Kashmir visits S.M Farm Padgampora Reviews seed production initiatives

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 26: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, on Sunday visited the Seed Multiplication Farm at Padgampora, Pulwama, to assess ongoing activities and review the progress of seed production initiatives.
During the visit, the Director specifically inspected the different blocks, Seed processing Plant and workshop where he evaluated the current status of activities related to seed multiplication.
He reviewed the overall working of the Farm, including field operations, crop management practices, and preparations for quality seed production to meet the region’s agricultural requirements, as the harvesting season of major cereal crops is commencing shortly.
The Director emphasized the critical role of departmental seed multiplication farms in achieving self-reliance in quality seeds for various crops, to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity in Kashmir.
Farm Manager, Padgampora, Malik Reyaz Ahmad, was also present on the occasion and provided detailed insights into farm management, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations.
The Director interacted with field staff and officers, directing them to adopt modern scientific practices and work in a mission mode to ensure timely availability of certified seeds to the farming community. He reiterated the department’s commitment to upgrading seed multiplication farms, across Kashmir, and strengthening post-harvest management for better outcomes.
This visit underscores the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir’s continued focus on strengthening seed infrastructure and promoting sustainable agriculture practices across the valley.
Director Agriculture was accompanied by Joint Director Extension, Mujtaba Yehya and Deputy Director Planning Javeed Ahmad Shah.
