*Anantnag Police Arrests 3 Drug Peddlers in Two Separate NDPS Cases; Charas & Brown Sugar Recovered*
Anantnag, September 13, 2026:
Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police has arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovered contraband from their possession.
In the first operation, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara, during naka checking at Katriteng-Waghama Road, apprehended two persons identified as Ubaid Rashid Dar S/o Abdul Rashid Dar R/o Waghama and Javaid Ahmad Parray S/o Mohd Maqbool Parray R/o Jablipora. During their search, 4.49 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their possession.
In this regard, FIR No. 259/2026 under Sections 8/21 and 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been initiated.
In another operation, a police party from Police Station Anantnag, during routine checking near Batapora Bridge, apprehended Shahid Maqsood Khuroo S/o Maqsood Ahmad R/o Guri Kharipora, Anantnag. During his search, charas was recovered from his possession.
Consequently, FIR No. 303/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag and investigation has been set into motion.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to dismantling the drug supply network and taking stringent legal action against those involved in drug trafficking and peddling.
