#Hailstorm, Heavy Rain Damage Paddy Crops in Ganderbal; North #Kashmir Villages Also Hit

A sudden hailstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall damaged standing paddy crops in several parts of Ganderbal district between Friday night and Saturday, while severe hail also lashed villages in and around Kunzer and Tangmarg in north Kashmir.

Farmers said paddy fields in Malikpora, Pati Devpora, Gogjigund, Kurag and Sehpora were affected by the adverse weather. The crop was reportedly nearing maturity when the hailstorm and heavy rain struck.

The damage has raised concerns among farmers over financial losses after significant labour and resources were invested in cultivation.

The affected farmers have urged the district administration and Agriculture Department to conduct an immediate assessment and provide timely compensation and relief under applicable government schemes and crop insurance provisions.
