Anantnag, September 18, 2026:
Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking and to curb the menace of narcotics, Anantnag Police arrested three drug peddlers in two separate cases and recovered from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Bijbehara, during naka checking at Darashikwa Crossing, Bijbehara, apprehended two persons namely Som Sarthi S/o Deepak Sarthi and Chotu Bariya S/o Kanhaiya Lal, residents of Chhattisgarh, presently staying at Guree, Bijbehara. During their search, 74.6 grams of charas-like substance in stick form was recovered from their possession. In this regard, FIR No. 267/2026 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
In another action, a police party from Police Post Bus Stand apprehended Aijaz Ahmad Wani S/o Nazir Ahmad Wani R/o Anchidoora at Bus Stand Crossing. During search, 10 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 316/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent legal action against persons involved in drug trafficking and making sustained efforts towards a Drug-Free Anantnag.
