ššš» ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 26 : In a continued crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Anantnag Police have arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 40 grams of charas from his possession during a checking operation on the TulkhanāBijbehara road.
Officials said that a police party from Police Station Bijbehara was conducting checking in the area when it apprehended Fiyaz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Fruit Mandi Parimpora, Srinagar, presently residing at Eidgah, Bijbehara.
During the checking, police recovered 40 grams of charas from his possession and took him into custody.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara under the relevant provisions of law, while further investigation has been initiated.
Investigators are working to establish the source of the recovered contraband and determine whether the accused was linked to a wider network involved in the transportation and distribution of illegal drugs.
Police said the action forms part of its ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of narcotic substances and identify individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against persons involved in drug-related activities and strengthening its efforts to combat the menace of narcotics in the district.
The police also urged the public to remain vigilant and extend cooperation to law-enforcement agencies in efforts aimed at making Anantnag drug-free.(KNC)
