Anantnag Police, continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, arrested two individuals in separate incidents and recovered contraband from their possession.
A police party from Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at Batengoo Crossing near Beacon, intercepted one individual identified as Aamir Ahmad Dar S/o Nazir Ahmad Dar R/o Batengoo. During his personal search, 140 grams of Ganja was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 339/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station, and investigation has been initiated.
In another incident, a police party from Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at G.B. Khalil, Naina–Tulkhan Crossing, intercepted Zaffar Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Rahman Sheikh R/o Parimpora, Srinagar, presently residing in a tent at G.B. Khalil, Naina. During checking, 38.87 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 287/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation has been set into motion.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to intensify action against drug peddling and the illegal narcotics trade, with sustained enforcement measures aimed at safeguarding the youth and society from the menace of drugs.
