World Mental Health Day Observed at NTPHC Dalwan Charar-i-Sharief

BUDGAM, OCTOBER 10: In observance of World Mental Health Day 2026, an Awareness-cum-Programme and Free Neuro-Psychiatric Camp was successfully conducted by the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), ASYM District Hospital Budgam, under the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) at NTPHC Dalwan, Block Charar-i-Sharief, District Budgam, a far-flung and hard-to-reach area of the district.
During the camp, more than 121 patients were provided free medical consultation, treatment, medication and counselling services. Patients requiring further evaluation, specialised care and advanced management were referred to District Hospital Budgam for further treatment and follow-up.
The programme also aimed to raise awareness regarding mental health, promote early identification of mental health conditions, reduce stigma associated with mental illness and encourage people to seek timely professional help.
The residents highly appreciated and hailed the efforts of the Health Department for extending essential mental health services to people living in remote and underserved areas, bringing quality healthcare closer to their doorsteps.
The camp reflects the commitment of the Health Department and the District Mental Health Programme, ASYM District Hospital Budgam, towards ensuring accessible, affordable and comprehensive mental healthcare for all, particularly in far-flung areas of the district.
