Heavy Rain Inundates Pahlipora Shopian, Multiple Homes Submerged; Rescue Ops Launched
Srinagar, Aug 1 : Several residential houses were inundated in Pahlipora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday morning following intense rainfall, causing waterlogging and panic among locals.
Officials told that rainwater entered multiple homes, throwing daily life out of gear in the locality. In response, police teams along with State Disaster Response Force personnel rushed to the spot and began rescue and relief work.
According to authorities, efforts are being made to shift affected families to safer locations where needed, pump out the accumulated water, and assess the damage caused by the inundation.
Meanwhile, social media reports claiming a cloudburst led to the inundation remain unconfirmed. Officials said there is no official word on a cloudburst yet, and the exact reason behind the inundation is being verified.
The district administration said it is keeping a close watch on the situation. Rescue operations were ongoing at the time of filing this report. Further details are awaited.(GNS)
