Pulwama Police Foils Major Narcotics Smuggling Bid, Three Arrested with 3.47 Kg Charas Powder
Pulwama, Aug 01 Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, Pulwama Police foiled a narcotics smuggling bid by apprehending three alleged drug peddlers during naka checking in the Litter area and recovering approximately 3.470 kilograms of charas powder-like substance.
According to police, a team from Police Station Litter was conducting patrolling and naka checking at Wasoora Wudder near the Poultry Farm when it intercepted a vehicle (JK01M-4904) travelling from Chakoora towards Pulwama.
During the search, police recovered around 3.470 kg of charas powder-like substance, which was seized as per legal procedure. The vehicle used in the alleged commission of the offence was also seized.
The accused have been identified as Jamsheed Ahmad Shah of Chandhar, Pampore, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Mir of Wasoora, and Shabir Ahmad Malik of Wasoora.
Police have registered FIR No. 100/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Litter. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify both forward and backward linkages in the narcotics network.
Pulwama Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to share information about narcotics-related or other unlawful activities with the police.
