*Junior Assistant Booked for Using Fake IT Degree in J&K Secretariat Appointment*

Srinagar Jul 3 : In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has registered a case against a government employee for securing a job in the J&K Secretariat using a forged academic certificate.
The accused, identified as Imran Nazir, son of Nazir Hussain, a resident of Khabla Behrote, Thannamandi, Rajouri, was appointed as Junior Assistant in the J&K Secretariat (Subordinate) Service under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
His appointment came through Government Order No. 762-JK (GAD) of 2022 dated June 24, 2022, following a recommendation by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB). He officially joined the General Administration Department (GAD) on June 27, 2022.
However, on the basis of a written communication from the GAD, the Crime Branch initiated an inquiry and subsequently booked Imran Nazir for producing a fake Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology. The forged certificate was purportedly issued by Karnataka State Open University, Muktha Gangotri, Mysore.
Authorities confirmed that an FIR has been registered, and further legal proceedings are underway.
