Baramulla MP Rashid Engineer’s Bail Plea Pending in Delhi HC; Counsel Raises Health Concerns
New Delhi, Feb 4: The bail application of Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, remains pending before the Delhi High Court. His counsel has raised serious concerns over his deteriorating health, citing that he has been on a hunger strike since January 31 in protest against being denied participation in parliamentary proceedings.
According to his legal team, Rashid has lost 5 kg due to his continuous fasting, adding to growing concerns about his well-being. The former MLA from Jammu and Kashmir has been in judicial custody in connection with a terror funding case.
The Delhi High Court is yet to make a decision on his bail plea, while supporters and political figures continue to demand his right to represent his constituency in Parliament. The case has drawn significant political and legal attention, with calls for ensuring his access to legislative duties despite his incarceration.
