*J&K Police continue drive against illegal sand mining in Baramulla; Tipper booked, tractor seized*

*August 07:* “`Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Baramulla Police took action at different locations in the district against vehicles found transporting sand without valid authorization.

During naka checking at Delina, a tipper bearing registration No. JK05C-5967 was intercepted and found carrying sand without a valid royalty permit. Necessary legal action under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) was taken, following which the vehicle was released as per law. In a separate action, a tractor in Baramulla was found transporting sand without valid authorization/documents. Accordingly, the vehicle was seized and legal action under the MMDR Act was initiated.

Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals and urges the public to report such unlawful activities to the nearest police station.“`
