MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi visits Sumerbugh, Shalina in Budgam Reviews restoration, flood safety measures

BUDGAM, MAY 08: Member Parliament (MP) for Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, today conducted an extensive tour of the breach sites at Sumerbugh and Shalina areas of Budgam to assess the damage caused by recent water level fluctuations and review the restoration and flood safety measures
During the visit, the MP inspected the points where the embankments of the Jhelum River and its flood spill channels have suffered breaches.
Local delegations met with the MP and put forth their demands.
Aga Syed Ruhullah directed the officers for accelerated restoration work to plug the breaches using modern engineering standards to ensure long-term stability. He asked for a comprehensive reinforcement of the vulnerable stretches along the Shalina and Sumerbugh axis. He instructed the department to maintain a constant vigil on water level and the structural integrity of the embankments.
Aga Syed Ruhullah assured the inhabitants of Sumerbugh and Shalina that he would personally monitor the progress of the restoration works.
He also inspected the Sempor–Seerbagh Bridge project where he was briefed about project’s financial and physical status.
Aga Syed Ruhullah was accompanied by SDM Chadoora, Executive Engineers of Flood and Irrigation, BDO B.K. Pora and other concerned officials.
