IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Arrangements for Amarnath Yatra, Muharram

Srinagar, June 8th : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V. K. Birdi (IPS) on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at PCR Kashmir to review security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026) and Muharram observances across the Valley.
Senior police officers from all districts attended the meeting and briefed the IGP on district-wise preparedness, security measures, and logistical requirements. Birdi stressed strict adherence to SOPs, enhanced surveillance, regular area domination, and round-the-clock monitoring of Yatra routes to ensure pilgrim safety.
He directed officers to remain prepared for emergencies, conduct mock drills, strengthen security at Yatra camps, and ensure adequate deployment of personnel and surveillance systems.
The meeting also reviewed Muharram arrangements, with the IGP emphasizing effective traffic management, close coordination with civil administration, and necessary security measures to ensure peaceful observances across Kashmir.
Birdi urged officers to maintain high standards of vigilance, professionalism, and coordination for the smooth conduct of both events.
