*Man died, 8 injured as Sumo loses control in Ramban*

Ramban, Oct 8 : A man was killed and eight others injured after the Sumo vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in the Senabati area of Ukherhal in Ramban district on Thursday, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the accident took place in the Senabati area after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

He said the injured were shifted to nearby health facilities for treatment. Two of the injured were referred to District Hospital Ramban, while six others were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for further treatment, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Vijay Singh, son of Raj Singh, a resident of Chunthan, Senabathi.

The official said those shifted to District Hospital Ramban were identified as Soni Chand, son of Amar Chand, who suffered a head injury, and Sunil Singh, son of Pyar Singh.

Those referred to GMC Anantnag were identified as Anand Singh, son of Pawan Singh; Anil Chand, son of Amar Chand; Naresh Singh, son of Raj Singh; Jatinder Singh, son of Pyar Singh; Ravinder Singh, son of Dharam Singh, who was critically injured; and Ravit Singh, son of Pyar Singh.

Meanwhile, cognisance of the incident has been taken and the circumstances leading to the accident are being verified.—(KNO)
