*Pulwama Police Steps Up Action Against Illegal Drug Trade | 27 Codeine Bottles Seized, One Arrested*
August 09“““Continuing its sustained efforts against drug abuse and the illegal trade of habit-forming substances, Pulwama Police apprehended a person during naka checking at Checkpora Bypass Bridge.
During naka checking, a Police party of Post Newa intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK01BD-5904, travelling from Pulwama towards Newa. During checking, 27 bottles of Wecan-D (Codeine) were recovered concealed beneath the seat of the motorcycle. The rider was identified as Adil Bashir Ganie S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/o Dangerpora, Pulwama, and was apprehended on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 141/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered substance and trace other possible linkages.
