*Voting Underway for Vice Presidential Election; PM Modi Casts First Vote*

New Delhi, Sep 9: Voting for the Vice Presidential election began on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi being the first Member of Parliament to exercise his franchise.
As per news agency, the contest is between NDA nominee C P Radhakrishnan and opposition-backed candidate B Sudershan Reddy. With the BJP-led alliance holding a numerical advantage, the NDA is seen to have a clear edge in the election necessitated by the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Among the early voters were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Harivansh, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, and SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav.
Officials said voting will continue in the Parliament House from 10 AM to 5 PM, with counting scheduled to begin at 6 PM. Results are expected to be declared later this evening.
