*Former Patwari Sentenced in Corruption Case by ACB Court Srinagar*

Jammu, Apr 14 A former Patwari, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar and sentenced to one year of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000 in a corruption case dating back to 2007.

The judgment was pronounced by Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar, Tasleem Arif, in connection with FIR No. 20/2007 registered at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (now ACB), as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC.

According to officials, the accused, who was posted as Patwari Halqa Khushipora Zainkot at the time, had demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹3,000 from a complainant for processing a mutation case.

They said the case was registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 161 RPC, following which an investigation was carried out by the vigilance authorities.

During the trial, the prosecution established the charges against the accused through oral and documentary evidence, leading to his conviction by the court.

The charge sheet in the case was filed in 2008, and the prosecution was represented by Senior Prosecuting Officer Wajahat Jameel on behalf of ACB Srinagar. —
