
Srinagar, April 11 : Amid forecast for mainly dry weather, the minimum temperature recorded an increase at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that no large change was expected in the weather and it was expected to be mainly dry till April 16. Generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain was likely for three days thereafter, he said.
Regarding the temperature, the MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 7.1ยฐC against 6.6ยฐC on the previous night and it was 0.5ยฐC below normal for the summer capital.
Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 4.8ยฐC against 4.2ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.7ยฐC below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 3.0ยฐC against 1.6ยฐC on the previous night and it was 0.2ยฐC above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmirโs Anantnag district.
Kokernag recorded a low of 7.7ยฐC against 6.8ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.6ยฐC above normal for the place, the officials said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 3.5ยฐC against 3.0ยฐC on the previous night and it was 2.0ยฐC above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirโs Baramulla district, he said.
In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 5.2ยฐC against 4.2ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.1ยฐC below normal for the north Kashmir area.
Jammu recorded a low of 17.4ยฐC against 17.0ยฐC on the previous night. It was 1.8ยฐC below normal for J&Kโs winter capital, he said.
Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 7.0ยฐC (below normal by 1.2ยฐC), Batote 11.5ยฐC (above normal by 1.0ยฐC), Katra 16.0ยฐC (0.5ยฐC below normal) and Bhadarwah 7.4ยฐC (0.4ยฐC below normal). Ladakhโs Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 2.0ยฐC and 2.5ยฐC respectively, he added. (GNS)
