
Srinagar, Jul 11: Amid forecast for mainly dry weather, minimum temperature increased at most places in J&K in Tuesday.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that mainly dry weather is expected till July14. However, he said, brief spell of rain and thunderstorm at isolated places “can’t be ruled out (>70% chance)”. Intermittent light to moderate rain has been predicted at many places of J&K with chances upto 70% from July 15-24.
Regarding the minimum temperature today, the MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 16.4Β°C against 17.2Β°C on the previous night and it was 1.7Β°C below normal for the summer capital.
Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 16.0Β°C against 14.5Β°C on the previous night and it was 0.5Β°C below normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley.
Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 10.7Β°C against 10.3Β°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 1.3Β°C for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmirβs Anantnag district.
In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 15.1Β°C against 15.2Β°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 1.3Β°C for the north Kashmir area.
Kokernag recorded a low of 15.3Β°C against 14.2Β°C on the previous night and it was 0.6Β°C below normal for the place, the officials said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 9.8Β°C against 9.0Β°C on previous night and it was 2.0Β°C below normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirβs Baramulla district, he said.
Jammu recorded a low of 25.1Β°C against 23.8Β°C on the previous night and it was 1.2Β°C above normal for J&Kβs winter capital, he said.
Banihal recorded a low of 16.1Β°C, Batote 17.6Β°C, Katra 22.7Β°C and Bhaderwah 15.4Β°C, the official said. (GNS)
