*J&K Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; Contraband Substances recovered*

*September 12:* “`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, J&K police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, during naka checking at Lassipora Crossing, within the jurisdiction of Police Post Mir Bazar, a person travelling from Sakhloo towards Khrewan was noticed moving in a suspicious manner. On noticing the police party, he attempted to flee from the spot. However, the police party chased and apprehended him. Upon his search, one polythene packet containing a Charas-like substance weighed approximately 171 grams was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mudasir Khursheed Laigroo son of Khursheed Ahmad Laigroo, resident of Sherpora, Anantnag. He failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding possession of the recovered substance. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Qazigund under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered substance.
In Anantnag, police party apprehended a drug peddler during routine checking near the Sports Stadium, Anantnag. A Police party from Police Station Anantnag apprehended one person identified as Ajaz Ahmad Malik son of Dilwar Malik resident of Old Qazibagh, Mattan Chowk, Anantnag. During his search, 3.15 grams of heroin and 4.44 grams of charas were recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 301/2026 under Sections 8/20, 21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation has been taken up.
