Anantnag, Oct 12: Panic gripped Sagam Wodar area of Kokernag after a woman and her daughter were attacked by a stray dog on Saturday.
The injured have been identified as Fatma Bibi and Shaziya Qayoom, both residents of Sagam Wodar. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors said their condition is stable.
Locals said the animal appeared suddenly and attacked the duo without provocation. Both were administered anti-rabies vaccination and are under observation.
Residents have urged authorities to take immediate action against the growing menace of stray dogs, citing multiple attacks in recent weeks that have left villagers, especially children and the elderly, living in fear.
