UK imposes new sanctions on Putin’s family, friends

London :  The United Kingdom on Friday announced fresh sanctions to target Russian President Vladimir Putin’s family and friends, saying it would “hit Putin’s financial network”. “Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced fresh sanctions on Putin’s ‘wallet’ of family and friends, those whom he rewards with state positions and wealth in return for their undying loyalty,” UK government said in a statement. “We are exposing and targeting the shady network propping up Putin’s luxury lifestyle and tightening the vice on his inner circle. We will keep going with sanctions on all those aiding and abetting Putin’s aggression until Ukraine prevails,” Foreign Secretary said. Putin’s Ex-wife Lyudmila Ocheretnaya; Anna Zatseplina, grandmother of Alina Kabaeva and associate of Gennady Timchenko – a longstanding Putin associate; Alina Kabaeva, who is alleged to have a close personal relationship with Putin, were among the 12 persons who were added to the sanction list.
