Oil Tanker Overturns on SSG Road Near Kangan, Miraculously No Casualties

Ganderbal, June 14: An oil tanker overturned after reportedly skidding off the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road near Kijpara in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district during the intervening night, officials said on Sunday.
The tanker, bearing registration number JK02DS-9026, lost control before veering off the road and turning turtle, resulting in substantial damage to the vehicle and the oil consignment it was transporting.
The mishap triggered concern among local residents and motorists using the busy highway. However, in a major relief, no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. The driver and other occupants, if any, escaped unhurt.
Soon after the accident, police and concerned authorities rushed to the spot and launched efforts to assess the situation and clear the affected stretch of the road to ensure the smooth movement of traffic.
Officials said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary findings, however, indicate that the tanker skidded before overturning.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
