FICCI FLO JKL, in Collaboration with KD Hospital, Organises Successful Free Eye Check-Up Camp for Over 400 Artisans in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 16, 2026: The Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter of FICCI FLO, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Varsha Bansal, organised a free eye check-up camp for artisans, weavers, and craftsmen in collaboration with KD Hospital.
The camp was held at the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology under the guidance of Mussarat Islam (Director Handlooms and Handicrafts, Kashmir)and Zubair Mir ( Director,IICT).
The medical team from KD Hospital was led by senior Ophthalmologist Dr. J. P. Singh. The camp proved to be an outstanding success, benefiting over 400 artisans and craftsmen. Participants received comprehensive eye examinations, expert consultations, medicines, and prescription spectacles wherever required.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Tanvir Sadiq, Hon’ble MLA, Zadibal Constituency, who said, “It was truly heartening to witness the enthusiasm and overwhelming response from our artisans, weavers, and craftsmen at today’s Free Eye Check-Up Camp. The participation reflects both the growing awareness and the genuine need for community-oriented healthcare initiatives among those who form the backbone of Kashmir’s rich craft and weaving tradition.”
He congratulated Ms. Varsha Bansal and her team, as well as the dedicated medical team from KD Hospital, particularly Dr. J. P. Singh, and all those associated with organising this commendable initiative. “This commitment to public welfare, preventive healthcare, and service to society deserves the highest appreciation. Our craftsmen are not only preserving Kashmir’s heritage and identity through their skill and dedication, but are also contributing immensely to the economy and cultural legacy of our region.”
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Varsha Bansal said, “Our artisans are the custodians of Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage. Supporting their health and well-being is essential to preserving these timeless crafts for generations to come. We are delighted that this initiative was able to benefit over 400 artisans and make a meaningful difference in their lives.”
