*Anantnag Police Arrests Drug Peddler in Bijbehara; 102 Grams Charas Recovered*
Anantnag, 17 May 2026:
Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug peddlers and narcotics trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler in the Bijbehara area and recovering contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Bijbehara, while conducting naka checking at Tulkhan Crossing, intercepted and apprehended one person identified as Ab Gani Sofi S/o Mohammad Rajab Sofi R/o Sethar Sangam.
During his personal search, 102 grams of charas in the form of sticks, cleverly concealed in corn husk, was recovered from his possession and seized as per legal procedure.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 129/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation has been taken up.
Anantnag Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urges the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking or peddling.
