Action Against Illegal Mining J&K Police in Shopian Seized 07 Vehicles; 03 FIRs Registered

SHOPIAN, August 17: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Shopian Police seized six tractors and one tipper in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district and registered three FIRs in the respective police stations.
During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Shopian seized a tractor & Tipper found engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard, FIR No. 163/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
In a similar action, a police party from Police Station Heerpora intercepted and seized a two tractors carrying mining material without valid royalty documents. FIR No.80/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In another action, a police party from Police Station Imamsahib intercepted and seized three tractors found involved in illegal mining activities without the mandatory permissions. FIR No.54/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
Shopian Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
