
Srinagar : The government on Monday constituted District Level Monitoring Committee(s) for effective monitoring and functioning of Drug De-addiction Centers.
With Additional Deputy Commissioner as Chairman of the committee (s), its members include Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer (Member Secretary), Representative of Senior Superintendent of Police (Not below the rank of Dy. Superintendent of Police) and Medical Officer trained in Mental Health, according to a government order, a copy of which lies with GNS.
The terms of reference of the committee include inspecting private drug De-addiction Centers running in each district and submitting recommendations/reports to the Divisional Level Monitoring Committee (s) on monthly basis.
The panel has also been asked to advise various stakeholders from time to time for implementing the Drug De-addiction policy on ground.
The committee is also tasked of organizing awareness campaigns about habit-forming drugs.
“The Home Department, Health and Medical Education Department and the Social Welfare Department shall continuously monitor the functioning of these committees at their level and submit a monthly report in the matter along with recommendations for suitable corrective action required from time to time,” it added.
