
Srinagar, May 19: Weatherman on Thursday forecast scattered to fairly widespread light rain/thunderstorm over Kashmir and Pir Panjal range of Jammu division in next 24 hours.
A meteorological department official here said that weather will be mainly dry over the plains of Jammu division.
The official told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 13.4Β°C against 11.4Β°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, above normal by 2Β°C during this time of the year for the summer capital.
Qazigund recorded a low of 9.8Β°C against 9.1Β°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.4Β°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 6.6Β°C against 5.8Β°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.7Β°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.
Kokernag recorded a low of 10.9Β°C against 8.6Β°C on the previous night. It was 0.9Β°C above normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 7.4Β°C against 3.2Β°C on the previous night, the official said. While 6.8Β°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 0.6Β°C above normal for the place in north Kashmirβs Baramulla district.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 9.8Β°C against 9.2Β°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.3Β°C above normal for the district, the official told Global News Service.
Jammu recorded a low of 26.2Β°C against 23.8Β°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature 2.3Β°C above normal for J&Kβs winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 12.4Β°C, Batote 16.8Β°C and Bhaderwah 13Β°C, the official said.
The weatherman has forecast a spell of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm from May 21st (evening)-24th at many places of Jammu and at most places of Kashmir during May 20-24th. βThereafter, there’s no forecast of any major rainfall but temp. (Temperature) will again rise gradually from the 25th till the next spell of rain.β (GNS)
