*Man died, five injured as vehicle veers off road in Banihal*

Banihal, Jul 19 A man was killed while five others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the hilly Mangit Road and plunged into a gorge near Aramdaka in the Khari Banihal area of Ramban district on Sunday morning, officials said.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the accident occurred at around 8:15 am when an Alto car, travelling from Mangit to Banihal, veered off the road while negotiating a curve on the hilly stretch near Aramdaka and plunged into a gorge.

They said all the occupants were rescued and shifted to Sub-District Hospital Banihal for treatment, where Ghulam Mohammad Lone (50), son of Ali Mohammad Lone, was declared dead. The remaining five injured are undergoing treatment.

The injured have been identified as Mohammad Ishaq (28), son of Abdul Rehman Khanday; Mohammad Rafiq (31), son of Abdul Rashid; Nawaz Ahmad (33), son of Abdul Ahad; Zaba Begum (45), wife of Abdul Ahad; and Hamad (9), son of Nawaz Ahmad.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident.—(KNO)
